Sophia & Simon | November 21, 2009

Had a lot of hurdles to overcome this day. We had an unusual timeline, certain segments that help drive the SDE were taken away due to lack of time...etc. However, despite all this, we were still able to capture the essence of the special day, and relive these little moments with everyone. Enjoy.

What's cool about this job is that sometimes you reconnect with old clients/friends because they were once brides or grooms, and now in their friends' bridal parties! What's up Val & Marvin!

5DMII spot

This commercial was shot by a London based cinematographer name Phillip Bloom. It was shot all 5DMKII. I've been following his work and he does awesome stuff with the MKII. The content and overall piece is really compelling. It's something I would love to do in the future. Just looking for the opportunity!

Jas & Dave | October 10, 2009

It's always fun when you're at a wedding and you know some folks there! Thanks to the fun bridal party that made my job easy! Jas & Dave were hella fun to work with. Dave said it best in his thank you speech when he said..."Man we're really in love!" Match.com does work wonders! They have a very unique story. Enjoy their same day edit.

I recently upgraded to the iPhone 3gS. The video feature is pretty fresh, and super fast when uploading clips to youtube (..to an extent. If the clip is too long it won't do it. At least from my experience). This particular clip was way too long, so I ended up emailing small portions of the clip to myself, and editing them on FCP. The "Coming To America" reference is an inside joke, sorry. Enjoy.

5D Randomness

Did more experimenting with the 5Dizzle. Really liking the mobility of the camera. Just having a bunch of fun with it right now. Taking stuff from what I've read and trying to come up with my own hurdles to get over. Like I said in previous posts, I'm in the mood to create! Thanks for sharing my randomness.

Josalie & Vince

Had a great time this past weekend working with Josalie & Vince. Fun couple, and a great group of family and friends. It was more personal this time because I actually know Josalie, and a handful of her friends. It was interesting to see the wedding unfold, but more interesting to see everything "after" everyone has left the reception. I always wondered what the bridal parties and friends do after. Luckily, after packing up, I got to hang out and have some drinks. It was a fun experience. Enjoy their SDE.

MKII practice.

Had the day off yesterday. Made a ghetto glidecam slider rig and shot some video. It's all random. Practice purposes only. Enjoy.

Update

This whole summer has been busy as usual, but I can't complain. I miss out on a lot of stuff because I work weekends, but I do make the best of it when I can. I thank God everyday that I'm alive and able to see the days unfold its moments of both happy and sad times. I have a whole bunch of ideas for the future. I need to start writing these things down. I want to start story boarding more on my randomness. I feel like some day they'll come around and I can piece everything together and try to make sense of it. I want to be more consistent.

After months and months of waiting and dealing with websites, I finally got my 5D MKII. This tool will help me illustrate my vision. I've got a lot on my mind, but really don't want to type it all out. I actually would rather talk about it in a real conversation. For the most part, I just want to create. And right now, I've turned to beats, freestyling, and video. Thankfully, I'm in my field of work and have access to the technology.

You can count on seeing more pictures and video soon! Peace.

Leia & Arthur | SDE | Lake Tahoe

Coming off a crazy past labor day weekend, the weekend of Sept. 12 wasn't too bad. We only had to drive far, once. It was great to see familiar faces from people we've worked with. A total of 3 couples in the same room! Got to catch up a little bit, see new honeymoon babies, and enjoy each others company. These folks remind me a lot of my people in the bay area so I felt right at home. Enjoy.

Edward & Natasha | SDE | Rancho Los Lomas

Back in the beginning of September, labor day weekend to be exact, Lumitone definitely had a packed weekend. Both teams shot a wedding on Saturday, Sept. 5. Then we had to drive to LA the very next morning to shoot another wedding! It was a crazy journey. Got to bed by midnight fom the first wedding, got up at 3am, then drove to LA. I thought we were gonna die (haha). Nontheless, we got there safely. It was a challenge to capture every beautiful moment the wedding had to offer due to fatigue, but in the end I think we managed pretty well. Enjoy.

21

Today my little, but not so little anymore sister is 21. When I turned 21, I was in college. At the stroke of midnight I went directly to Safeway, bought a bottle of apple smirnoff vodka (I know kinda lame, but be quiet), and saved the receipt for memories. What I didn't know was that unless you preserved it right, the ink would naturally evaporate with the oxygen in the air because now that receipt jus looks like a dirty piece of paper 5 years later. Whatever though, I know what was on that receipt. And that's all that matters. Happy Birthday Kris.

SDE from this past weekend.

Our bride wanted the surprise SDE to be "dramatic, MTV style." With a song ("Unbelievable" by Craig David) that called for a more smooth type flow, I think Joel made a really dope cut and still had the "dramatic" feel. Enjoy.

Weekend update.

Pretty crazy past weekend. Very tired. Here's the edited version.

Update.

I apologize for the bombs of posts today. It has been a hectic, fun, stressful, tedious weekend and I have not been able to stay consistent with updates (..as if people actually follow this and give a shit of what I post. ha. jk...no I'm not. ha). In any case, if you do attempt to catch me where I'm at and what I'm doing, I appreciate your support. Foreal.

To fix my life, I decided to clean my room. I am excited because 1) I feel fresh, like my room. And 2) I'm off tomorrow while most people have to go to work. Have a great work week everyone. Peace.

Meet the Tamayo's!

Ayden James Sorrentino

For every life lost, another is born. We miss you Uncle Frank. We know you're shining down on Ayden.

Don Mueck...continued again.

Don Mueck..continued.

Don Mueck | Photo-Realist

Don Mueck is a London-based photo-realist artist. Born in Melbourne,Australia, to parents who were toy makers, he labored on children's television shows for 15 years before working in special effects for such films as Labyrinth, a 1986 fantasy epic starring David Bowie. Eventually Mueck concluded that photography pretty much destroys the physical presence of the original object, and so he turned to fine art and sculpture. In the early 1990's, still in his advertising days, Mueck was commissioned to make something highly realistic, and was wondering what material would do the trick. Latex was the usual, but he wanted something harder, more precise. Luckily, he saw a little architectural decor on the wall of a boutique and inquired as to the nice, pink stuff's nature. Fiberglass resin was the answer, and Mueck has made it his bronze and marble ever since.
