Don Mueck | Photo-Realist

Don Mueck is a London-based photo-realist artist. Born in Melbourne,Australia, to parents who were toy makers, he labored on children's television shows for 15 years before working in special effects for such films as Labyrinth, a 1986 fantasy epic starring David Bowie. Eventually Mueck concluded that photography pretty much destroys the physical presence of the original object, and so he turned to fine art and sculpture. In the early 1990's, still in his advertising days, Mueck was commissioned to make something highly realistic, and was wondering what material would do the trick. Latex was the usual, but he wanted something harder, more precise. Luckily, he saw a little architectural decor on the wall of a boutique and inquired as to the nice, pink stuff's nature. Fiberglass resin was the answer, and Mueck has made it his bronze and marble ever since.

I didn't get to take as many pictures as I wanted, but I did what I could when I had time. I can't post any pictures from the music video shoot because the shits too raw for internet blogging. Jk. Must wait til' everything premieres. I am truly blessed to have Lorenzo as a mentor. Being on his set was a really good experience. The band is fresh out the UK, and definitely represented here in the U.S. Go Sky Larkin! Enjoy the pics I took at Lorenzo's place.

A friend/family member/co-worker gives you exact change to buy something at the store. You come to find out that the "something" is on clearance and is between 1/4 - 1/2 the price of the exact change given. Do you not tell the person about the clearance and pocket the change? Or "accidentally" forget to tell them? Hmm..

It’s Friday and in the morning you bought your coffee and bought a BBQ Pork Vietnamese sandwich that you haven’t eaten in so long and was craving it. At lunch, you then realize that it’s Friday and it’s LENT! Do you eat the Pork sandwich that you already bought or do you save it for tomorrow and buy lunch again?

Weird Dreams #2

Weeks before my uncle passed away on February 25, 2009, he had a dream of his heart inside of a glass case. My cousin said the meaning of it was "protection," "journey," and "soul." Oddly, my cousin's all wanted to keep his port, a glass tube that helped the process of his chemo therapy. Not to mention, it was also the closest thing to his heart at the time. How ironic.
